He holds a quill in his right hand and a monstrance in his left, signifying his powerful writings about the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, guided by the Holy Spirit, who in the form of a dove, whispers in his ear. A Bishop's miter and crosier, and a noblemen's coronet lay at his feet, as he rejected both a Bishop's See as well as his noble birthrights.
